Hey runners! It’s that time of year again! The sun is shining and we officially shift to our summer schedule for group runs!
A few major things to note is our Wednesday evening fun run is still at 6:30pm but now starts from P&M on Orange Street. We are starting up our Friday Armada Brewing fun runs WEEKLY, because you just can’t get enough! We also now have an evening summit run for those of us who aren’t early birds! Hope to see some new faces at these runs!

We are so beyond proud of all our ~wicked~ fast teammates who ran the Boston Marathon🦄! This race is no easy feat especially with full sun the whole race 😮💨. While our race game was strong so was our cheer squad, so many people came out to support our team!
Spring has sprung & so have Wooster square’s famous cherry blossoms!!🤭☀️🌼 of course the team celebrated with a beautiful run around the square🌸🍒
Last weekend several members of our team took on an extremely competitive race ~Project 13.1~
This race isn’t called the fastest half in the country for nothing, and we had many superb races from the team!
PRs included: @tigercheesehippo 1:15:27, Lizzie Mundell-Perkins 1:14:28, @ziz_ch 1:17:40, and @gavinarnold1 1:19:23, PLUS this was Aziza’s debut half marathon race!
@maxoccupancy lead the charge with an extremely impressive 1:11:34 finish. @itsamarython had her fastest half in 9 years, 1:26:49! @runyourlife_ finished strong with a crazy pregnancy PR of 1:26:33.
@t.cannata managed to race with good spirits despite battling an injury and @josie.jayworth made the most of it still completing two very strong laps and then cheering on the team even with also recovering from an injury.
NHRR alum @kidan_zerufael had an amazing race PB finishing at 1:12:24!
But also, name a more photogenic team… we’ll wait 😍 Thanks to @meteredexposure for capturing so many wonderful photos for us!

Both our mens’ and womens’ teams won the team competition to make it a clean sweep! We also continued our streak of fielding complete Masters Male (4th place) and Female teams (2nd place).

It’s almost time to par-tay! Our annual kick off party is on Friday, January 31st so make sure to get your tickets to attend asap (link in our bio)! The event is catered and we have some prizes and superlatives you don’t wanna miss. Plus it’s one of the few times you’ll see your fellow comrades not in running clothes. 🎁🎊NHRRmas day TWO! Summit runs!🎊🎁
Nothing says friendship quite like running to the top of a hill for fun, and if you have any breath left at the top, the view will take it away. These runs are Thursdays at 6:30am starting at Nica’s, but it’s such a hit people plan summit runs or even double summits runs together all the time.

On the 3rd day of NHRRmas, we hit the track for our summer track meet! 🏃♀️🔥
Our meet featured an Equalizer Mile where @grace.c.klise took home the win 🥇, followed by a 4x4 relay victory by lizzie, @flor_parra, @katiewojnowski, and @kidan_zerufael 🏆💨 & we wrapped it all up with a team BBQ🍔🎉

NHRRmas Day 4, Wednesday Fun Runs!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Let’s be honest it’s ALWAYS a beautiful day for a Wednesday night fun run and clearly all of you agree! This is by far our most popular run, and definitely a good one to come to for your first time! There are so many different paces and we have a 3mile and 5mile option but you could always extend or shorten to what you need. In the summer we start at @pmorangest and for the winter we start at @thetrinitybar so we can hide from the cold after and maybe even enjoy a few cold ones while we’re at it… oh and can’t forget about the nachos 🤤

Another successful year for NHRR in the USATF-CT Road Circuit! Our men’s and women’s teams both battled hard to place 2nd, while our masters team earned a strong 4th. A huge thank you to all 33 runners who scored for us this season! 🙌

This year we continued our book club with 7 more books, and even expanded past books about running to include a book about New Haven!
It has been a lovely way to get together and discuss topics covering many different aspects of our sport. All are welcome to join! Sprit Run by Noé Álvarez will be our book for January.

Another beautiful day of NHRRmas 🎄, coming in at Day 8 are our Friday bar/brewery runs at @armadabrewing and in Downtown New Haven! We loved our summer Friday Armada runs so much that we had to start up a winter Friday run downtown and have been going to @oldheidelbergbar after! These runs are our favorite way to kick off the weekend, and we get to socialize with some delicious drinks afterwards 🍻 maybe we will see you there this Friday 👀

Lizzie ran an amazing 2:38:51 (a 6 minute PR!), earning an impressive 29th place overall.
The stars aligned for @tigercheesehippo who had his long time coming marathon breakthrough. He crossed the line in 2:41:56, a 10+ minute PR!
@andiecondie also absolutely smashed her personal best by nearly 10 minutes, running 2:48:54!!
@gavinarnold1 rounded out the crew with an impressive 2:51:11. Another 10+ minute PR!

This past weekend, NHRRs fought bravely at the @philly_marathon weekend. They have kept their honor!
In the half marathon, @me_cara_ree, a small-town girl who would have died somewhere on the mean streets of Philly without the sage guidance of Tiger, ran a personal best of 1:27:21, even while feeling mostly confused. @avafowler crushed her race with a time of 1:30:18 and is knocking on the door of breaking 1:30 — we know she’ll get there soon! @ahnooj took on the ambitious Patriot Challenge, first setting a PR in the half marathon (1:38:15) and then tackling the 8K with stellar effort.
In the 8K, @esb.eats ran super strong in just his second race back from injury, finishing with a huge smile. @tigercheesehippo was also there.
The marathon was filled with standout performances. @crossan_the_street, perhaps the largest New Haven Road Runner, embodied the meme, “Time for marathon, I am not prepared but I will do it,” and delivered an impressive 3:04:15 for a 15 minute PR. @lexicafiero showed incredible resilience in the face of race-week sickness and IT band agony, finishing in 3:11:56 in the name of DEATH AND GLORY. Jeremy Provance ran a determined 3:32:58 for his third marathon in three months, while Omar Radwan gutted out a PR despite not knowing he was running until two days prior! The absolute hero of the weekend. Let’s give a special shoutout to our unforgettable marathon debutants who tackled this immense challenge with bright smiles the whole way: @flor_parra (3:43:28), @lia_us (3:53:45) and @sarahhelen28 (4:11:13). Finally, @court.marathon.runner selflessly supported her friend throughout the entire race. Frodo never could have done it without Sam!
A special shoutout to our NHRR alumni @dgoutos (3:26:04), @jeeeeeke (2:45:54) and @cait_elise (1:34:09) as well! Yet another wonderful day at the @hmf_events Hartford marathon weekend! With world record conditions on offer, NHRR runners in all four races (5k, Half, Full, Relay) did not let the opportunity slip. By our count 38 runners repped NHRR’s elm leaf and we racked up over 16 PRs (including many debuts) on the day!
It was a beautiful day and a wonderful gathering of the CT running community. A pleasure to draw swords with you all! A huge thank you to @hmf_events for another amazing event. We already can’t wait for next year!

NHRR takes on the Windy City! We are ~blown~ away by so many amazing races at the Chicago Marathon!
Tim Cannata @t.cannata led the way with a 2:49:42 finish, battling a cold but still managed to hang on to goal pace for 17 miles. Daniel Jordan Viray @danieljordanviray showed incredible resilience despite having a tough injury for much of his training block, while Brittany Battis @runyourlife_ made an inspiring return to the marathon after three years! Jeremy Provance tackled his second fall marathon and Bruce Ma @jiaji___ma delivered a solid performance even with an unexpected caffeine surge.
Liv Provance @livprovance achieved a personal best of 3:05:58 with her consistent pacing and strong finish. Zachary Haas @zjhaas was cruising and also set an amazing PR with a time of 2:54:48.

The New Haven meet up of the @pride5k will be happening alongside other runners nationwide on October 12th at 9:30 am. We will start at the New Haven Pride Center (50 Orange Street) and walk/ run a 5k together, starting and ending on the rainbow road 🌈🌈

Last weekend NHRR brought their sneakers to Sneekers for our 6th circuit race, the Mohegan Striders 4 Miler @ Sneekers!
Our Women’s Open team brought home the gold, while our men, though not taking the win this time, certainly “dominated in courage and heart,” as Lizzie so perfectly put it.
Our Women’s Open team finished in 1st place with a total time of 2:03:48, narrowly beating Manchester Running Club by less than 3 minutes. The Women’s Masters team came in 4th with a total time of 1:31:52, and the Men’s Open team also secured 4th place with a collective time of 2:08:17.
It was Lizzie’s first race back since the spring and she smashed it, taking first female and leading our women to victory. Andie @andiecondie , our second woman, raced for NHRR for the first time and while she questioned retirement in the middle, she had a great race! In fact, she, Josie @josie.jayworth , and Phoebe @pheebini swept the 20-29 age category awards while Miche @michevarbutus took home the win in the nonbinary category! Susanne @radke30 and Cara @me_cara_ree delivered strong performances, and Beth @mnb_worldtour set a personal record for the 4-mile distance. Allie @alllieeekat jumped in last minute due to Pranav’s @soundsandlights sponsorship and Maggie @maggie_a_boyd brought us home!
On the men’s side, Jake @jake.jayworth led with a smooth and gloriously pain-free race, finishing 2nd in the 20-29 age group. Ian also had an impressive debut with NHRR, achieving a nearly 40-second PR for the 5k during the race and finishing 3rd in the 40-49 age group. Sean, Omar, Marco @marcopirazz , Tom, and Pranav @soundsandlights all came through with strong finishes, adding to a great team effort.

This club may be called the “New Haven Road Runners”, but last month two of our runners bravely forged into the unknown to race in far-off vistas as different from sleepy little NHV as you can imagine.
First up, @mattiecwebb ventured to South African to run THE ultramarathon, the 54 mile @comradesmarathon. Known as “the Ultimate Human Race”, Mattie made us proud by finishing in 7:55.
Next up, @me_cara_ree placed second in the @midnightrunis half marathon in Iceland! On a course that looked suspiciously green for a country called “Iceland”, Cara faced all manner of trial and tribulation on the course but came away alive and all the better for it.

Elle and Garrett are the first known couple from NHRR to meet in the club and then get married 💚💚 We were very happy to have these two, who have both had a huge influence on the club (serving as President and VP during their time here), back in the Elm City for a gorgeous wedding celebration. Last Saturday three of our club members decided to expand beyond our traditional discipline of running into the sport of triathlon (swim, bike, run). They competed as a relay team in the Pat Griskus Triathlon in Middlebury, CT. The race is in memory of Pat Griskus, a Waterbury, CT native who was the first amputee to complete the Hawaii IRONMAN. It has since become a local staple, serving as many people’s introduction to this sport.
Beth Kingsley swam 1 mile, Chris Mulhall biked 23, and Flor Parra ran 6.2, with their team placing first in the olympic distance relay category! We thank race director Tom Wilkas for his hard work making this race happen each year and look forward to continued involvement in triathlon moving forward

May 5 is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Two Spirit, and Relatives. NHRR runners and community members gathered to participate in the @rising_hearts Running for Justice to remember and help honor those who have been lost. The week of action may have ended but the fight and advocacy for the safety of Indigenous people continues, please continue to amplify Indigenous voices, participate in actions, and donate if you can.

📍Quinnipiac lands
Another year, another great Cheshire Half Marathon by @cheshire_road_races! NHRR sent a small but mighty crew down the road in this classic race on the Farmington Canal Trail.
- @runyourlife_ continues NHRR’s tradition of excellence at this race, taking🥇in 1:24:10. This is Britt’s first time breaking the finish tape and we couldn’t be more proud of her!
- PRs for @lucio_run_fitness (1:26:25) and @kathryn.mj (1:37:54)!
- Fastest half since 2018 for @ncdeziel (1:41:07), who we’re told had “the form of an Olympian from start to finish”!
- First race as a dad for @minops_soyboy! Dad strength came through in 1:36:53
