On January 25, 2015, the USATF CT Grand Prix Racing Series kicked off at the Winter Wonderland 5 mile race in Milford CT. In the blustery conditions, the NHRR women placed 3rd in the Overall division. Sarah Piazza (54th overall, 2nd in age category) led the charge with a time of 32:53. Amanda Pelowe and Adele Plunkett rounded out the top three for the women. Scott Kulakowski was NHRR’s first male finisher in a time of 31:33 (38th overall).

With 73 points, the NHRR women finished a close second to the Milford Road Runners in the Women’s Open category of the 2014 CT Grand Prix Road Race series. The series consists of 8 races ranging from 1 mile to the half marathon that take place from February to September. The NHRR women took first place in 6 of the 8 races. Though the NHRR men started the season strong, a weak finish left them in 5th place, well below their usual performance. Both the men and women look forward to a fun and successful campaign in 2015, which kicks off on January 25 with the Winter Wonderland 5 miler in Milford CT.
The NHRR women continued their stellar running at the Sea Leg Shuffle on August 3. Once again, Kristen Leslie led the charge on the 10 mile course with a time of 1:05.28, which placed her 4th among all females. Diane Sobers finished close behind as the 5th place female with a time of 1:06.57. Nicole Deziel (1:12.18, 3rd in age group) and Annie McMahon (1:13.39) rounded out the top 4 for the Elm City Runners.
Led by Amanda Pellowe’s 2nd place finish in a time of 4:56, the NHRR women continued to storm through the USATF Grand Prix Road Race Series at the Spring Street Mile on June 14. Kristen Leslie (3rd woman, 5:09) and Nicole Leslie (8th woman, 5:30) rounded out the top 3 for the women on the downhill course. On May 24, Sarah Piazza, running 24:22 on a flat but windy course, led the NHRR women to a decisive win in the women’s open division of the Delaney Dash. Her time placed her 3rd among all women in the race. Kristi Schuette (24:55, 5th place women’s open) and Amanda Pellowe (25:37, 6th place women’s open) also ran strong races to round out NHRR’s top 3 women. The men finished 4th in the male’s open division, led by Eugene Douglass, who finished 8th overall in 22:12, a personal best for the event. Nathan Kucera (22:54, 15th overall) and Brian Korody (23:04, 16th overall) also ran well and were joined by NHRR rookies Ben Carlson (25:20) and Richard Andreozzi (29:26) in NHRR’s top five men. Amanda Pellowe, NHRR’s middle distance specialist, set a personal record for the 1500 meters run Saturday night during the New Balance Boston Twilight Series, held at Bentley College. Her time of 4:45.08 placed her 8th in a field that included US Olympian Anna Willard and several other professional athletes.
